PARTICIPANTS WILL GAIN:
.... VALUES: fun, competitive spirit, imagination, creativity
.... SKILLS: strategic thinking, storry telling
... KNOWLEDGE: rules of the game, different strategies, some cool wisdoms if you play it with the right people:-)
DESCRIPTION OF THE GAME:
Before the game:
Dix it could be played by only 3 players up to 12 in basic set up or even more in edited variations. The base game and all expansions consists of 84 cards each.
It is the best to play it in 5 to 6 players but could be more (up to 12) or less (3 minimum) - more players it is - more fun and more complicated it usually gets, as all the people have different ideas, and different views of the world:-)
Instructions:
One player is always the "leader of the round" - which means he is the storyteller for the turn and he starts.
He looks at the images on the 6 cards in his hand and as soon as he has an idea, he will choose one card that
caught his attention and makes up a sentence, word, poem or whatever he feels like could be a "description" of the card.
Than he says it out loud and without showing the card to the other players he will put it on the table (by the picture side down).
Each other player selects also one card from their hands which he thinks is the best match the sentence that story teller just said
and puts the selected card also on the table, without showing it to the others.
The storyteller shuffles all the cards and puts them back on table, but all pictures are shown face up now. Each card has its own "position" or "number".
Every player has to bet upon which picture was the storyteller's by writing the number down or putting a nail in the special kind of card or something like that.
Points:
If nobody or everybody finds the correct card, the storyteller scores 0. In this case - each of the other players scores 2.
Otherwise the storyteller and whoever found the correct answer score 3 points.
Players also score 1 point in the case that they managed to confuse others and they get a point for every vote for their own card.
End of game:
The game ends when the deck is empty or if a player scores 30 points. In either case, the player with the most points wins the game.
(Or the one who had the most fun - rules are variable :-))
REFLECTION:
This game is really easy to play. Trully connects people with different age range or language levels.
A large part of the skill of the game comes from being able, when acting as the storyteller, to offer a title which is neither too obscure
(such that no other player can identify it) nor too obvious (such that every player is able to guess it).
EXTRA NOTES:
Cards could be also used as a tool for help when there is a need for sharing some feelings, solving issues or different views in a group where is harder to start talking.
